How Blue Waters Dog Rescue collects, uses, and protects the information you share with us on bwrdogs.org.

Blue Waters Dog Rescue is a small 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Pompano Beach, Florida. We only collect the information we need to place dogs in safe homes, answer your questions, and run our rescue. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone.
Foster and adoption applications
Our Foster-Adoption Application asks for information that helps us find the right home for each dog. This includes your name, address, phone numbers, email, date of birth, driver’s license number, employer, the people and pets in your home, your housing and landlord details, your veterinarian, and personal references. The same applies to a co-applicant, if you list one.
We use this information only to review your application. That can include calling your references, landlord, or veterinarian, and scheduling a home visit. Your date of birth confirms that you meet our minimum age of 21, and your driver’s license number helps us confirm your identity before a dog goes home with you.
Only the volunteers and staff who review applications can see them. We don’t publish them or share them outside our rescue, except with the references you list, or when the law requires it.
The contact form
When you use our contact form, we receive your name, email, phone number (if you give it), the topic, and your message. We use them only to reply to you.
How our forms are delivered
Our contact form and our application form are delivered by Web3Forms, a form service that emails what you submit to our inbox at [email protected]. Web3Forms handles that data under its own privacy policy.
Donations through Zeffy
Online donations are processed by Zeffy, a fundraising platform for nonprofits. When you donate, you give your name, email, and payment details to Zeffy, not to our website. Zeffy’s privacy policy applies to that information. Zeffy shares your name, email, and donation details with us so we can thank you and send tax receipts. We never see or store your full card number.
Adoptable pets from Petfinder
Our Adoptable Pets page shows a list of our pets from Petfinder. That list loads from Petfinder’s servers, so Petfinder may receive basic technical information about your visit, like your IP address and browser type. If you click a pet, you go to Petfinder’s website, where Petfinder’s own privacy policy applies.
Website hosting and analytics
Our website is hosted by Cloudflare. Like most web hosts, Cloudflare processes basic technical information, such as your IP address, to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are popular. It doesn’t use cookies, and it doesn’t track you across other websites. Our own pages don’t set advertising or tracking cookies. The Zeffy donation form on our home page may use its own cookies to process your gift.
Links to other websites
Our site links to other sites, like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, news stories, and Blue Waters Recovery Foundation. Those sites have their own privacy practices.
How long we keep information
We keep applications and messages only as long as we need them for our rescue work and records. Then we delete them.
Children
Our website is meant for adults. You must be 21 or older to apply to foster or adopt. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Your choices
You can ask us to see, correct, or delete the information you sent us. Email [email protected] and we’ll help.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version on this page and update the date at the top.
